On-Demand Carving Innovation: The High-Speed All-Mountain Predator

The Volkl TigerShark represents a fascinating apex in mechanical ski design engineering. At 161cm, this 2009 premium frontside carver features Völkl's mechanical Power Switch Technology a dial integrated into the tail that compresses or relaxes two internal carbon fiber rods running through the body of the ski. This allows you to manually shift between "Cruise," "Dynamic," and "Power" modes, physically altering the stiffness and rebound of the ski directly on the snow. Upgraded with a wider 73mm waist, the Tigershark 10 Foot behaves like a supercharged slalom carver that can aggressively punch through afternoon crud without breaking a sweat.

Key Features

  • Power Switch Technology: An on-ski mechanical dial that tensions internal carbon fiber rods, allowing you to manually customize the ski's flex and snap from smooth cruising to aggressive racing stiffness.

  • Titanium Laminate Backbone: Reinforced with a high-performance Titanal layer directly beneath the top skin, delivering top-tier dampness and unflinching stability at high velocities.

  • Integrated iPT Motion System Bindings: A high-performance binding interface built directly into the ski chassis to maximize power transmission and ensure uninhibited, fluid ski flex underfoot.

  • Extended Wood Core (XTD): Consists of a solid central wood section extending out toward the tip and tail, providing a robust, energetic base with a massive amount of rebound coming out of short-radius turns.

  • Double Grip XTD Sidewalls: Places extra material height above the edges from tip to tail, maximizing lateral pressure distribution for an exceptional edge grip on injected race lines or ice.

  • Aggressive Frontside Geometry: Features a 121mm wide shovel paired with a lightning-fast 73mm waist, allowing the ski to instantly hook into turns and plane beautifully through varying resort conditions.

  • Traditional Full Camber Profile: Ensures maximum effective edge contact with the snow, providing immediate turn engagement and rock-solid tracking through high-force carves.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SKI BINDINGS:

The bindings included with this setup are currently indemnified by the manufacturer, meaning they are still recognized on the industry-standard list of supported and serviceable models. However, for your safety, these bindings are shipped UNSET and UNTESTED. Ski bindings are highly technical safety equipment that must be custom-adjusted to each individual skier. Before clicking into these skis, you must take them to a certified ski technician to have them properly adjusted and torque-tested.

The technician will configure the bindings specifically to your:

  • Ski Boot Sole Length (BSL), Weight and Height, Age, Skier Type / Ability Level (DIN Setting)

Ski at your own risk. Proper professional adjustment is required to ensure the bindings function and release as intended by the manufacturer.
